What Are Some Big Signs of Brake Issues?

Do you know what to look for in terms of brake problems? Allman’s Automotive wants you to be as prepared as you can be for any possible situations that could be a warning sign about your car’s brakes.

Leaking Brake Lines

Any time that you see brake fluid leaking, that’s a bad sign. Your brake system needs all the brake fluid it can hang onto in order to keep functioning. If you’re seeing brake fluid at all, it’s also a possibility that you’ve got air in your brake lines. Getting your brakes inspected is a good idea at this point.

Weird Noises from the Brakes

Some brake noises are normal and to be expected, like the odd squeak here and there. Other noises, like grinding sounds when you press the brakes, are not a good sign. This is where it pays for you to be familiar with how your brakes normally sound so that you can notice immediately when something sounds different.

Vibrations During Braking

If you’re feeling vibrations when you press the brake pedal, that’s a big indication of trouble. It can mean a few different things, ranging from a warped rotor to problems with the brake pads. Other issues can also cause vibrations while braking, so guessing is never a great idea with your brakes.

Brake Warning Light on the Dashboard

You’re probably pretty familiar with your car’s brake light because you see it every time you turn on the car. And if you use your parking brake at all, your brake light is the indicator on the dash that lets you know that brake is activated. If you see your brake light on at any other time, it’s a sign that there’s something wrong with the brakes.

Zero Brake Response

If you ever press down on your brake pedal and you have no brakes at all, you already know that’s seriously bad news. What you may not know is that even if your brakes seem to come back, you shouldn’t be driving the car without a brake inspection. You have to make sure that you’re safe to drive, and that means having working brakes.

Let Allman’s Automotive in Groveland, MA inspect your brakes if you’re noticing something that doesn’t feel or look quite right. We’ll accurately diagnose whatever is going on with them and help you to get back on the road again as safely as possible.
